Recap: Northeast Bearcats vs. South Shelby Cardinals
The Northeast Bearcats pushed their score all the way to 57 on Thursday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They fell just short of South Shelby by a score of 59-57. Northeast has struggled against South Shelby recently, as their game on Thursday was their sixth consecutive lost matchup.
South Shelby's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Belle Roush, who dropped a double-double on 16 points and 13 rebounds. Roush is on a roll when it comes to rebounds, as she's now pulled down eight or more in the last eight games she's played. Callie Mcwilliams was another key contributor, scoring 17 points along with eight rebounds.
Northeast's defeat dropped their record down to 2-2. As for South Shelby, the win was the fourth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 10-2.
Northeast is on the road again on Sunday and play against Tipton at 2:30 p.m. on January 7th. As for South Shelby, they will take on Meadville at 6:00 p.m. on Saturday. Meadville knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with flashy point totals in its past 12 matches -- so hopefully South Shelby likes a good challenge.
