Football Game Preview: Mepham Pirates vs. Glen Cove Big Red

The Mepham Pirates are taking a road trip to take on the Glen Cove Big Red on Saturday. Glen Cove took a loss in their last game and will be looking to turn the tables on Mepham, who comes in off a win.

Mepham had to skate by with only a three-point margin when they last took the field, which might have inspired the 24-point drubbing they dealt Long Beach on Saturday. The Pirates were the clear victors by a 24-0 margin over the Marines. The victory continues a trend for the Pirates in their matchups with the Marines: they've now won five in a row.

Meanwhile, Saturday just wasn't the day for Glen Cove's offense. They were beaten by Long Beach 41-0 two weeks ago. While losing is never fun, the Big Red can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' New York football rankings (they are ranked 343rd, while the Marines are ranked 135th).

Mepham's win bumped their record up to 2-0. As for Glen Cove, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-2.
