Baseball Recap: Matanzas Takes a Loss

Matanzas was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their sixth straight defeat. They took a 10-5 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Menendez Falcons. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Falcons this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 11-1 back in February.

Matanzas saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Roberto Reyes, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with one stolen base. Dylan Vanderbur also deserves some recognition as he brought in his first RBI of the season.

Matanzas' loss dropped their record down to 2-13. As for Menendez, with the victory, they broke their six-game losing streak and moved their record to 7-14.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Matanzas will square off against Father Lopez at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Menendez, they will challenge St. Joseph Academy at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. The Falcons' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Fighting Flashes have averaged an impressive 7.4 runs per game this season.
