Volleyball Recap: Longmeadow's Undefeated Season over After 15 Games

If Longmeadow was riding high fresh off their 3-0 takedown of Frontier Regional on Wednesday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Lancers fell 2-0 to the Southington Blue Knights on Sunday. The loss was the Lancers' first of the season.

Southington got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Laura Esguerra out in front who had six aces and five assists. Esguerra is on a roll when it comes to aces, as she's now served two or more in each of the last nine games she's played. Sehere Coma was another key player, getting five aces.

Having lost for the first time this season, Longmeadow fell to 14-1. As for Southington, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won four of their last five contests. That's provided a massive bump to their 11-9-1 record this season.

Southington didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, a 1-1 draw against Westborough on the 12th. Hopefully Longmeadow paid attention to the Blue Knights' matchup: the next time they hit the field, they'll take on the Blue Knights at 1:00 p.m. on Sunday.
