Preview: SA Roosevelt Rough Riders vs. Lee Volunteers
Two dominant guards in Maddison Castillo and Rosanelly Pastrano are getting ready to go toe-to-toe. The SA Roosevelt Rough Riders will take on the Lee Volunteers at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. SA Roosevelt is hoping to put an end to a 12-game streak of away losses dating back to last season.
Last Saturday, SA Roosevelt came up short against Marshall and fell 48-40. SA Roosevelt has struggled against Marshall recently, as their contest on Saturday was their sixth consecutive lost matchup.
Even though the team lost, they still had their share of impressive performances. One of the most dominant came from Castillo, who scored nine points along with five assists. Another player making a difference was Tyriana Robinson, who scored 14 points.
Meanwhile, after a string of three wins, Lee's good fortune finally ran out on Saturday. They fell just short of Churchill by a score of 60-57. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest defeat Lee has suffered yet this season.
SA Roosevelt has been struggling recently, as they've lost 15 of their last 17 matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-20 record this season. As for Lee, their loss dropped their record down to 17-10.
SA Roosevelt was dealt a bruising 83-31 loss at the hands of Lee in their previous meeting back in December of 2023. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of Lee's Debi Hernandez, who scored 26 points along with five assists and three steals.
