Basketball Recap: Monroe Area Takes a Loss

Monroe Area lost against Jefferson back in February of 2020 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Thursday. The Monroe Area Purple Hurricanes lost to the Jefferson Dragons on the road by a 58-41 margin. While losing is never fun, the Purple Hurricanes can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Georgia basketball rankings (they are ranked 331st, while the Dragons are ranked 78th).

Monroe Area has traveled a rocky road recently having lost four of their last five matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-11 record this season. As for Jefferson, they pushed their record up to 11-4 with the win, which was their fourth straight at home.

Monroe Area will welcome West Hall at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Jefferson, they will head out on the road to take on East Hall at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. One thing working in East Hall's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points in their last nine contests.
