Baseball Recap: Big Spring Comes Up Short

Big Spring lost to Liberty back in March and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. The Steers lost 14-4 to the Patriots. The Steers have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

RJ Gomez and Alex Yanez did some serious damage despite the final result: Gomez went a perfect 2-for-2 with two runs and one triple, while Yanez got on base in all three of his plate appearances with one stolen base, two RBI, and one double. Kaleb Hansen was another key player, going 1-for-2 with one double and one RBI.

Big Spring's defeat dropped their record down to 5-20-2. As for Liberty, they are on a roll lately: they've won nine of their last ten contests. That's provided a massive bump to their 21-9 record this season.

We've got plenty of inter-district action coming up soon. Big Spring is set to square off against their familiar foe Lake View at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Meanwhile, Liberty will challenge rival Frenship Memorial at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
