Alton was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their fifth straight loss dating back to last season. They took a 64-52 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Mountain Grove Panthers. One positive for the Comets, at least, is that this was the most points they've scored all season.

Alton's defeat dropped their record down to 0-4. As for Mountain Grove, the win keeps them at an undefeated 11-0.

Alton will have a little extra prep time after the loss as they won't be playing again for a while. They'll take on Ellington at 6:00 p.m. on January 21st. As for Mountain Grove, a feisty cat fight will be fought when the Mountain Grove Panthers challenge the Seymour Tigers at 7:30 p.m. on Monday.
