Basketball Recap: Bessemer City Comes Up Short

Bessemer City lost against Burns back in January and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. The Bessemer City Yellow Jackets took a 38-34 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Burns Bulldogs. The Yellow Jackets have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Burns' win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Kaylee Greene, who almost dropped a double-double with 12 points and nine steals. Burns is 12-6 when Greene posts three or more steals, but 1-2 otherwise. The team also got some help courtesy of Laney Williams, who posted eight points and nine steals.

Bessemer City's loss dropped their record down to 11-11. As for Burns, their record is now 13-8.

Bessemer City has already played their next matchup, a 63-31 victory against Cherryville on the 11th. As for Burns, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 60-19 win against East Gaston on the 11th.
