Volleyball Recap: Three Straight Road Victories for Brother Rice

Brother Rice won the last time they faced Loyola Academy and things went their way on Tuesday too. The Crusaders came out on top against the Ramblers by a score of 2-0. The game was the first time the Crusaders have beaten the Ramblers on their court since May 9, 2022.

Brother Rice not only won, but also showed off some consistency: they kept Loyola Academy between 16 and 18 points across their sets. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-16, 25-18.

Paul Baker paced Brother Rice's offense, picking up nine kills. Baker got some help from Matthew Phelan and his 34 assists.

Brother Rice's win was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 27-6. As for Loyola Academy, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost three of their last four games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 12-16 record this season.

We've got plenty of inter-conference action coming up soon. Brother Rice is set to challenge their familiar foe St. Francis at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Meanwhile, Loyola Academy will square off against rival Saint Ignatius College Prep at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday.
