Mesrobian entered their tilt with Southwestern Academy on Thursday with four consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with five. They took their contest with ease, bagging a 57-29 victory over the Southwestern Academy Sun. Given the Bulldogs' advantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 679th, while the Sun are ranked 1389th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Mesrobian got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Alex Vartanian out in front who dropped a double-double with 20 points and 16 rebounds. Vartanian is also on a roll when it comes to shooting accuracy, as he's posted one of at least 45% in the last eight games he's played. Another player making a difference was Hakop Gyulvanesian, who went 10 for 13 to rack up 16 points and six boards.

Mesrobian smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 12 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive rebounds in three consecutive matches.

Mesrobian's victory bumped their record up to 14-6. As for Southwestern Academy, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 2-13.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: Mesrobian beat Southwestern Academy by a score of 55-31 on Monday.
