Volleyball Recap: Purnell Swett Comes Up Short

Purnell Swett was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They came up short against the Cape Fear Colts, falling 3-0. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Rams of the 3-1 defeat they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in September of 2024.

Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-15, 25-6, 25-19.

Cape Fear got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Sadie Adams out in front who had seven digs and three aces. The dominant performance also gave Adams a new career-high in assists (three). Lilah Pruitt also deserves some recognition as she served her first ace of the season.

Purnell Swett's loss dropped their record down to 6-8. As for Cape Fear, they have been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five contests. That's provided a massive bump to their 6-4 record this season.

We've got plenty of inter-conference action coming up soon. Purnell Swett is set to square off against their familiar foe Scotland at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Meanwhile, Cape Fear will face off against rival Gray's Creek at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
