Baseball Recap: Randolph Southern Takes a Loss

Randolph Southern extended their losing streak to four on Saturday, dropping their season record down to 3-19 in the process. They fell 8-3 to the Seton Catholic Cardinals. The Rebels were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Cardinals earlier this season, when they won 14-8.

As for Seton Catholic, they are on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 7-12 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.5 runs over those games.

For Seton Catholic's part, Tyson Tremain spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned (and two unearned) runs on six hits. Tremain has become a key player for the Cardinals: the team is 6-3 when he allows at most two earned runs, but 1-9 otherwise.

On the hitting side, Seton Catholic's win was truly a team effort as three different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Taeon Tate, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with two runs. The Cardinals are 6-1 when Tate posts two or more runs, but 1-11 otherwise.

Randolph Southern does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Seton Catholic, they will take on Union City at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. The Cardinals' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Indians have averaged an impressive 7.6 runs per game this season.
