Softball Recap: Glendale Prep Academy's Run of Six Straight Wins Now Over

Glendale Prep Academy dropped their record down to 9-5 on Thursday, which also ended the team's six-game streak of wins. They came up short against the Mohave Accelerated Patriots, falling 15-0. The Griffins were red-hot at the plate heading into the match (they scored no less than ten runs in the six games prior), but the Patriots' pitcher proved too tough.

As for Mohave Accelerated, the win (which was their tenth in a row) raised their record to 21-2. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 18.1 runs over those games.

For Mohave Accelerated's part, Kennedy Lamb made a splash while hitting and pitching. She kept things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out 14 over five innings pitched. Lamb has been consistent for a while: she hasn't given up more than one walk in 14 consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going a perfect 4-for-4 with one home run, two triples, and five RBI. Those two triples gave her a new career-high.

In other batting news, Tanner Banks was incredible, going 3-for-4 with three stolen bases, four runs, and two doubles. She is on a roll when it comes to hits, as she's now got three or more in each of the last three games she's played. Another player making a difference was Rayli Marin, who went 2-for-3 with two runs, one triple, and one stolen base.

Coincidentally, Glendale Prep Academy and Mohave Accelerated will both be playing Wickenburg the next time they take the field. The Patriots will head out to face the Wranglers at 3:45 p.m. on Friday, while the Griffins will host them at 3:45 p.m. on Monday.
