Softball Recap: Lowell Red Devils vs. Andrean Fighting 59ers        
        
		
            
 Lowell lost against Andrean back in May of 2023, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result  on Saturday. The Lowell Red Devils fell just short of the Andrean Fighting 59ers by a score of  3-2. The  defeat unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Lowell in their matchups with Andrean: they've now lost three in a row.
  Kaylee Meeks spent all seven innings played on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned  (and two unearned) runs on four hits.
 At the plate,  Chole Cora was cooking despite her team's loss,   going 1-for-3 with two  RBI and a  double. Another player making a difference was  Olivia Fuentes, who  scored a  run while going 2-for-4.
 On Andrean's side, they also let their pitcher toss all seven innings played and she was also dialed-in:  Abbey Bond gave up two  runs (both of which were unearned)  on seven hits and racked up eight Ks. Bond has been consistent recently: she hasn't  given up  more than two  walks in six consecutive pitching appearances.
 On the hitting side,  Maggie Voliva was  excellent,  scoring two  runs and  stealing a base while  getting on base  in all three of her plate appearances. She is on a roll when it comes to  stolen bases, as she's  now  stolen  at least one in the last three games she's  played. The team also got some help courtesy of  Sadie Drousias, who  went 1-for-1 with a  triple and two  RBI.
 Lowell's loss dropped their record down to 0-2. As for Andrean, they pushed their record up to 8-1 with that  win, which was their sixth straight  on the road dating back to last season.
 Lowell will  take on Highland at 4:45  p.m.  on Monday. As for Andrean, they will be playing at home against Hanover Central at 4:30  p.m.  on Monday. The last three games Andrean has played have been within two runs, so don't be surprised if it's a close one.
