Recap: Clayton Yellowjackets vs. Penasco Panthers
The Clayton Yellowjackets scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Saturday. They managed a 62-57 win over Penasco. The victory was just what Clayton needed coming off of a 47-22 defeat in their prior game.
Penasco's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Rochelle Lopez, who scored 18 points along with seven rebounds and five assists. Lopez scored a full 31.6% of Penasco's points, the fifth time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Analise MacAuley, who scored 14 points along with eight rebounds and three blocks.
Clayton pushed their record up to 5-3 with that win, which was their third straight at home dating back to last season. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 50.3 points per game. As for Penasco, their loss dropped their record down to 4-2.
Clayton will head out on the road to face off against Grady at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Grady will be looking to extend their current three-game winning streak. Penasco will be home for the holidays to greet Santa Rosa at 6:00 p.m. on Friday.
