Basketball Recap: Mount Juliet Drops Highest Score of Season Against Portland

Mount Juliet is still winless after their matchup against Portland on Monday, but the team can take solace in the fact it was the closest they've come to winning. They were three points away from ending the streak, but they lost a 71-68 heartbreaker at the hands of the Panthers. On the bright side, the 68- point effort marked the Golden Bears' highest-scoring game to date.

Portland got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Quenten Totten out in front who shot 75% from the field on his way to 20 points in addition to five boards and three steals. Thanks to that strong game, Totten now owns an excellent 52.6% shooting accuracy. Another player making a difference was Tristan Calvert, who went 6-for-13 en route to 17 points and three steals.

Mount Juliet's loss dropped their record down to 0-4. As for Portland, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 3-1.

Looking ahead, Mount Juliet will head out to face off against Overton at 7:30 p.m. on December 2. As for Portland, they and Whites Creek will face off at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday without much rest, having both just played. The Panthers will need to watch out since the Cobras have now posted at least 55 points every time they've taken the court this season.
