Baseball Game Preview: Chardon Hilltoppers vs. Brush Arcs

Chardon is 9-1 against Brush since April of 2016 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Thursday. The Hilltoppers will be playing in front of their home fans against the Arcs at 4:30 p.m. The timing is sure in Chardon's favor as the team sits on four straight wins at home while Brush has been banged up by nine consecutive losses on the road dating back to last season.

Chardon let Mayfield stack four runs on them in the first inning on Wednesday but luckily Chardon prevailed anyway. The Hilltoppers sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 6-5 win over the Wildcats. That's two games straight that the Hilltoppers have won by just one run.

The team relied heavily on Stone Fawcett, who went 2-for-4 with two doubles, one stolen base, and two RBI. Those two doubles gave him a new career-high.

Meanwhile, Brush came up short against Roosevelt on Wednesday and fell 7-2.

Kyle Farrell was cooking despite his team's loss, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with one stolen base and one run. He is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as he's now snagged at least one in each of the last three games he's played.

Chardon is on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 11-9 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.5 runs over those games. As for Brush, their defeat dropped their record down to 4-7.

Everything went Chardon's way against Brush when the teams last played back in April of 2022, as Chardon made off with a 13-1 win. Will the Hilltoppers repeat their success, or do the Arcs have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
