Baseball Game Preview: SouthLake Christian Academy Eagles vs. Providence Day Chargers

The SouthLake Christian Academy Eagles are taking a road trip to face off against the Providence Day Chargers at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. SouthLake Christian Academy has given up an average of 8.2 runs per game this season, so hopefully the team got some pitching drills in this week.

On Saturday, SouthLake Christian Academy came up short against Carmel Christian and fell 12-7. The Eagles have struggled against the Cougars recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive lost meetings.

SouthLake Christian Academy saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Grayson Broadway, who got on base in all three of his plate appearances with one home run and four RBI.

Meanwhile, Providence Day was able to grind out a solid win over Cary Academy on Saturday, taking the game 6-2.

Providence Day also got a great performance from Thomas Daly as he struck out nine batters over six innings while giving up just two earned runs off four hits. Daly has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Austin Ward was incredible, scoring a run and stealing Four bases. while going 2-for-3. The dominant performance gave him a new career-high in stolen bases. Brendan Ravin also deserves some recognition as he snagged his first stolen base of the season.

SouthLake Christian Academy now has a losing record of 2-3. As for Providence Day, their victory bumped their record up to 4-2.

Both the two teams just can't seem to miss. SouthLake Christian Academy has been making plenty of contact this season, having averaged 9.2 hits per game. However, it's not like Providence Day struggles in that department as they've been averaging only 4.2 hits. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.

SouthLake Christian Academy came out on top in a nail-biter against Providence Day when the teams last played back in March of 2024, sneaking past 11-9. The rematch might be a little tougher for SouthLake Christian Academy since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
