Softball Recap: Leonardtown Picks Up Seventh Straight Win on the Road

Leonardtown never let their opponents score on Friday. Everything went their way against the McDonough Rams as they made off with a 22-0 win. Considering the Raiders have won five matchups by more than 13 runs this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.

Leonardtown got a massive performance out of Sarah Fortescue, who got on base in all five of her plate appearances with four RBI, one triple, and one stolen base. Another player making a difference was Vanessa Brooks, who scored five runs and stole four bases while getting on base in three of her five plate appearances.

Leonardtown was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .469. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .310 or higher in four consecutive contests.

Leonardtown's victory was their seventh straight on the road dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 7-0. The road wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.4 runs on average this season. As for McDonough, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-4.

The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Raiders 1.3, the Hurricanes 0.4) so any runs scored will be well earned. Meanwhile, McDonough will challenge rival Northern at 4:30 p.m. on Monday.
