Softball Recap: Harrells Christian Academy Has No Trouble Against Wake Christian Academy

Harrells Christian Academy hadn't done well against Wake Christian Academy recently (they were 2-7 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Thursday. The Crusaders put the hurt on the Bulldogs with a sharp 19-5 win. That 14 run margin sets a new team best for the Crusaders this season.

Regan Cannon was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run over five innings pitched. Cannon was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run while going 1-for-4.

In other batting news, Breelyn Peed was a standout: she went 3-for-5 with five RBI and two runs. Those five RBI gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Makenzie Jackson, who scored four runs while going 3-for-4.

Harrells Christian Academy always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .595. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

The victory got Harrells Christian Academy back to even at 3-3. As for Wake Christian Academy, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 4-4.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Harrells Christian Academy will challenge Faith Christian at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. The Patriots have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 7.91 runs per game on average), something the Crusaders will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Wake Christian Academy, they will square off against North Raleigh Christian Academy at 6:30 p.m. on Monday.
