Archbishop Riordan grabbed hold of the lead when Cardenas ran for a touchdown with 3:00 remaining in the fourth quarter, and never relinquished it.

AR saw its 10-point halftime lead decrease to four entering the fourth.

The final score was a stunner, as the Crusaders was ranked No. 613 in the MaxPreps Freeman Rankings for California, far below Sacred Heart Cathedral's spot at No. 283.

The victory was a step in the right direction for Archbishop Riordan, which was coming off a 49-15 defeat at the hands of St. Francis in its previous game. The win broke Archbishop Riordan's three-game losing streak.

In a West Catholic game next week Archbishop Riordan (3-4) takes on Valley Christian, and Sacred Heart Cathedral (2-5) will go up against Bellarmine also in a West Catholic game.
