 The Swallows Charter Academy Spartans lost against the Las Animas Trojans back in February of 2023, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result  on Thursday. Swallows Charter Academy suffered a  rough 47-23 loss at the hands of Las Animas. While losing is never fun, Swallows Charter Academy can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage  in MaxPreps' Colorado basketball rankings  (they are ranked 285th, while Las Animas is ranked 135th).
 Despite the loss, Swallows Charter Academy still got an impressive performance from   Faith DeRudder, who  dropped  a double-double on ten points and 11  rebounds. That was a full 43.5% of Swallows Charter Academy's points, marking the third time in a row she's  earned more than a third of the team's points.
 Las Animas found their leader in underclassman  Jadann Eck, who  scored 19 points along with seven  steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points  Eck has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of  Emma Netherton, who  scored 11 points along with six  rebounds and two  blocks.
 This is  the second loss in a row for Swallows Charter Academy and  nudges their season record down to 3-14. As for Las Animas, their victory bumped their record up to 12-4.
 Swallows Charter Academy won't have much time to rest: their next  game is against Walsenburg at 6:30  p.m.  on February 9th. Walsenburg comes in on a streak of failing to score more than 25 points in their last 13 games, a trend the  team is of course eager to reverse. As for Las Animas, they won't have much time to rest: their next  contest is against Swink at 4:00  p.m.  on February 9th. Las Animas' defense has only allowed 29  points per game  this season, so Swink's offense will have their work cut out for them.
