Softball Recap: Make It Three in a Row for Bangor

Bangor hadn't done well against Skowhegan recently (they were 0-9 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Wednesday. The Rams walked away with a 5-2 victory over the River Hawks. While the Rams didn't have the best season last year (they finished 1-12), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past.

Emma Tripp spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered two runs (both of which were unearned) on four hits and racked up 12 Ks. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than ten strikeouts in three consecutive appearances.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Gabby Goding, who went 2-for-3 with two runs and one double. Another player making a difference was Sophie Lynch, who got on base in three of her four plate appearances with one run and one RBI.

The win was the third in a row for Bangor, bringing their record up to 6-1. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.0 runs on average over those games. As for Skowhegan, their loss dropped their record down to 5-2.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Bangor will welcome Old Town at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Skowhegan, they will be playing at home against Lawrence at 3:30 p.m. on Friday. The Bulldogs will roll in looking for their fourth straight win, something the River Hawks surely won't give up without a fight.
