Softball Recap: Ocean Springs Wins Going Away Against Harrison Central

Ocean Springs barely beat Harrison Central the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Ocean Springs Greyhounds were the clear victor by a 12-2 margin over the Harrison Central Red Rebels on Thursday. That's more bragging rights for the Greyhounds, who also won the pair's last head-to-head.

Kylie Untisz spent all six innings played on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered two runs (both of which were unearned) on three hits.

At the plate, Ocean Springs got a massive performance out of K'Lee Gum, who went 3-for-4 with one home run, three runs, and four RBI. That's the most RBI Gum has posted since back in April of 2024. Another player making a difference was Gracie McDonald, who scored three runs and stole a base while going 1-for-3.

Gum wasn't the only one working in the hit department: Ocean Springs kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least 11 hits in three consecutive matches.

The win got Ocean Springs back to even at 7-7. As for Harrison Central, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 3-9.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Ocean Springs will face off against Gulfport at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Harrison Central, they will challenge Neshoba Central at 3:00 p.m. on Friday.
