Basketball Game Preview: Lake George Lakers vs. Granville Golden Horde

The Lake George Lakers will head out to challenge the Granville Golden Horde at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Lake George's defense has only allowed 27.1 points per game this season, so Granville's offense will have their work cut out for them.

On Tuesday, Lake George didn't have too much trouble with Argyle as they won 34-20. Given the Lakers' advantage in MaxPreps' New York basketball rankings (they are ranked 150th, while the Scots are ranked 426th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Lake George's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Mykah Collier-Fisher led the charge by putting up eight points in addition to 13 rebounds and seven steals. Collier-Fisher is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last nine games she's played dating back to last season. The team also got some help courtesy of Madyson Brennan, who posted 12 points along with four blocks and three steals.

Lake George smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 18 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least nine offensive boards in 26 consecutive matches dating back to last season.

Meanwhile, Granville was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their sixth straight defeat. They came up short against Whitehall, falling 37-13.

Lake George's record is now 6-2. As for Granville, their loss dropped their record down to 0-6.

Lake George didn't have too much breathing room in their contest against Granville when the teams last played back in January of 2024, but they still walked away with a 46-42 win. One of the biggest obstacles trying to stand in the way of that victory was Granville's Melissa Beaver, who went 8 of 18 on her way to 18 points along with six rebounds and four steals. Now that she won't be playing on Friday, will it be easier for Lake George to walk away with another win? There's only one way to find out.
