Union City extended their winning streak to three on Saturday, bumping their season record up to 7-7 in the process. They came within a single run of losing the streak, but they secured a 14-13 W against the Monroe Central Golden Bears. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Indians have posted since April 30, 2024.

The team relied heavily on Oaklee Reichard, who went a perfect 4-for-4 with three runs, three RBI, and two doubles. That's the most doubles she has posted since back in May of 2024. Another player making a difference was Scarlett VanMeter, who went a perfect 4-for-4 with one stolen base and one RBI.

Union City always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .622. They are a perfect 5-0 when they post an OBP of .513 or better.

As for Monroe Central, their loss was their ninth straight at home, which dropped their record down to 1-16. On the bright side, the 13- run effort marked their highest-scoring match to date.

On Monroe Central's side, Laura Walker stepped up to lead a balanced group of hitters: she went 3-for-5 with three RBI, two runs, and one stolen base. The team also got some help courtesy of Aleiyah Davis, who went 1-for-5 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI.

Union City didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next game, a 3-2 defeat against Winchester Community on the 10th. As for Monroe Central, they also wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next contest, a 12-1 loss against Northeastern on the 12th.
