Recap: Iola Mustangs vs. Anderson County Bulldogs
The Iola Mustangs had to travel to play their first game of the season, but the final result was worth the trip. They skirted past Anderson County 43-41. For Iola, this counts as revenge for the 61-52 defeat Anderson County walked away with the last time they faced one another back in February.
Iola's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Cortland Carson led the charge by scoring 21 points along with 8 rebounds. Another player making a difference was Lucas Maier, who scored 9 points along with 15 rebounds.
Iola's win bumped their record up to 1-0. As for Anderson County, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-1.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Iola will face off against Central Heights at 8:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Anderson County, they will head out on the road to face off against Baldwin at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Baldwin and Anderson County are at an even 5-5 over their past ten head-to-heads.
