Basketball Recap: Wayne Badgers vs. Tabiona Tigers
Wayne was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their fifth straight defeat. They took a 57-46 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Tabiona Tigers. The Badgers were not able to make up for their loss to the Tigers from their previous meeting back in February.
Several Badgers players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Hunter Robins, who went 7 of 12 on his way to 16 points and five rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Brayden Lee, who dropped a double-double on 13 points and 12 boards.
Even though they lost, Wayne smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 15 offensive rebounds. That's the most offensive boards they've posted since back in December of 2023.
Leading Tabiona to victory were Gavin Rhoades and Dayton Giles. Rhoades almost dropped a double-double on 17 points and nine boards, while Giles went 7 of 11 on his way to 22 points. Those 22 points gave Giles a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Bryson Fabrizio, who posted eight points and six boards.
Wayne's defeat dropped their record down to 2-7. As for Tabiona, their victory was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 5-2.
Wayne wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next matchup, a 66-25 win against Pinnacle on the 28th. As for Tabiona, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 39-34 victory against Duchesne on the 28th.
