Softball Game Preview: Blue Ridge Tigers vs. Mount Vernon Tigers

Blue Ridge will head out on the road to face off against Mount Vernon at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday. The two teams are strolling into their matches after big wins in their previous games.

Blue Ridge had to skate by with only a two-run margin when they last took the field, which might have inspired the seven-run drubbing they dealt Bells on Thursday. The Tigers blew past the Panthers 9-2.

The team relied heavily on Kayden Brazil, who went 2-for-4 with one home run. The team also got some help courtesy of Kenzie Baker, who went 1-for-4 with three runs.

Meanwhile, Mount Vernon waltzed into their contest on Thursday with four straight wins... but they left with five. Everything went their way against the Raiders as they made off with a 14-1 victory. That's two games straight that the Tigers have won by exactly 13 runs.

Mount Vernon pushed their record up to 23-5-1 with the win, which was their seventh straight on the road. Those road victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 12.0 runs over those games. As for Blue Ridge, they are on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four games. That's provided a massive bump to their 6-7 record this season.

Blue Ridge might still be hurting after the 14-3 loss they got from Mount Vernon in their previous matchup back in March of 2019. Can Blue Ridge avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
