Basketball Recap: Countryside Extends Winning Streak to Six

Countryside came tearing into Wednesday's matchup with five straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 31.4 points) and they left with even more momentum. They came out on top against the Fivay Falcons by a score of 48-38. Given the Cougars' advantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 150th, while the Falcons are ranked 337th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Countryside's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Carter Padags led the charge by going 6 for 14 en route to 21 points along with eight rebounds and five assists. That's the most boards Padags has posted since back in December of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Corey Perlin, who almost dropped a double-double on 11 points and nine rebounds.

Padags wasn't the only one working in the assists department: Countryside was working as a unit and finished the game with 13 assists. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Fivay only racked up seven assists.

Despite the loss, Fivay still got an impressive performance from Odell Brown, who went 5 of 8 on his way to 11 points and seven boards. Dominick Walsh was another key player, putting up six points and three steals.

Countryside pushed their record up to 16-6 with the victory, which was their third straight on the road. As for Fivay, their loss ended an eight-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 15-7.

As of now, neither Countryside nor Fivay have any future games scheduled.
