Baseball Recap: Bosque Takes a Loss

Bosque extended their losing streak to seven on Friday, dropping their season record down to 1-13 in the process. They lost 19-5 to the Ruidoso Warriors. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Warriors this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 22-2 on Friday.

Bosque saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Luca Kalishman, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with two runs, one triple, and two RBI. That triple marked the first that Kalishman has hit this season. Tas Lupo was another, going 1-for-2 with two runs and one double.

As for Ruidoso, they pushed their record up to 9-11-1 with the victory, which was their fourth straight at home. The home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.0 runs on average over those games.

On Ruidoso's side, Cayden Wilson looked comfortable as he struck out eight batters over four innings while giving up three earned runs off four hits (and only one walk). Wilson has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than one walk in four consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Ruidoso got a massive performance out of Andres Marmolejo, who went a perfect 4-for-4 with one home run, seven RBI, and four runs. The Warriors are undefeated when Marmolejo posts three or more hits, but 5-11-1 otherwise. The team also got some help courtesy of Carson Stratton, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one home run, two stolen bases, and three runs.

While Bosque had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled on Saturday.
