Softball Recap: St. Johns Redwings vs. Williamston Hornets
St. Johns was not able to break out of their rough patch on Wednesday as the team picked up their fifth straight defeat. They lost 12-1 to the Williamston Hornets. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest runs St. Johns has scored all season.
For Williamston's part, Thea Fortin made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she struck out nine batters over five innings while giving up just one earned run off four hits. Fortin has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't pitched less than five innings in three consecutive pitching appearances. Fortin was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with three RBI, two runs, and a triple.
In other batting news, Jaiden Griffith was incredible, going 3-for-4 with three runs, a triple, and a double. She has been hot recently, having posted three or more hits the last three times she's played. Tamara Sleight was another key contributor, scoring two runs while going 2-for-2.
