Softball Game Preview: Richfield Wildcats vs. Canyon View Falcons

Richfield is 2-8 against Canyon View since March of 2017 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Tuesday. The Wildcats will host the Falcons at 3:30 p.m. Having both just faced considerable losses, both teams are looking to turn things around.

Richfield is headed into Tuesday's match looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their third straight game on Monday. They came up short against Manti, falling 18-11. Even if the Wildcats couldn't come away with the win, the high-scoring effort was a great turnaround for their hitters, which had struggled int the games prior.

Macie Barton stepped up to lead a balanced group of hitters: she went 2-for-4 with one home run, three runs, and one stolen base. The team also got some help courtesy of Mataiya Murray, who went 3-for-5 with three stolen bases, three runs, and one double.

Meanwhile, Canyon View was not able to break out of their rough patch on Monday as the team picked up their fourth straight loss. They lost 11-1 to North Sanpete.

Canyon View saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Peyton King, who went 1-for-3 with one home run.

Richfield's defeat dropped their record down to 8-16. As for Canyon View, their loss dropped their record down to 6-19.

Canyon View's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Richfield has been making plenty of contact this season, having averaged 9.1 hits per game. It's a different story for Canyon View, though, as they've been averaging 9.8 hits. Given Richfield's sizable advantage in that area, the Falcons will need to find a way to close that gap.

Richfield beat Canyon View 7-3 in their previous meeting back in March. Will the Wildcats repeat their success, or do the Falcons have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
