Basketball Recap: Kalani Mcgee's Big Game Can't Quite Lead South Plaquemines over St. Charles Catholic

South Plaquemines was the 35-33 winner over St. Charles Catholic when they last played one another back in December of 2023, but their luck changed this time around. The South Plaquemines Hurricanes took a 37-26 hit to the loss column at the hands of the St. Charles Catholic Comets on Tuesday. The matchup marked the Hurricanes' lowest-scoring contest so far this season.

Several Hurricanes players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Kalani McGee, who went 6 of 13 en route to 12 points and six rebounds. McGee is trending in the right direction considering she's improved her point production for three straight games. The team also got some help courtesy of Keyiara Davis, who posted four points.

South Plaquemines' defeat dropped their record down to 2-4. As for St. Charles Catholic, they are on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four games, which provided a nice bump to their 5-4 record this season.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. South Plaquemines will take on Thomas Jefferson in a holiday battle at at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday. As for St. Charles Catholic, they will have some time to savor their victory since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Crowley at 2:45 p.m. on December 28th.
