Basketball Recap: Apache Junction Comes Up Short

Apache Junction had lost seven straight at home dating back to last season, but on Tuesday they dropped down to 1-12 to make it eight. They took a blow against the Seton Catholic Sentinels, falling 65-22. The Prospectors were not able to make up for their defeat to the Sentinels from their previous meeting back in January of 2025.

Several Prospectors players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Ainsley Clark, who went 5-for-10 on her way to 10 points and eight boards.

As for Seton Catholic, they are on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 12-7 record this season. They have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won seven contests by 22 points or more this season.

Seton Catholic was led to victory by McKenna Iber and Sophia DiPuccio. Iber shot 57% from the field to rack up 21 points along with five assists and five steals, while DiPuccio went 9-for-11 en route to 20 points in addition to six assists and five steals. With that strong performance, Iber is now averaging an impressive 2.1 steals per game. Another player making a difference was Giovanna Di Scala, who posted 14 points.

Apache Junction has already played their next game, a 29-25 victory against Santa Cruz Valley on the 14th. As for Seton Catholic, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 63-26 win against Globe on the 16th.
