Baseball Recap: Apex Comes Up Short

Apex easily dispatched Franklinton on Wednesday, but unfortunately both the margin and the ultimate result were a different story in this one. The Cougars fell just short of the Broughton Capitals by a score of 10-8 on Thursday. The Cougars were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Capitals apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in February of 2025.

Apex got a good showing from SIMON BRUTISKY, who pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. BRUTISKY has been consistent: he hasn't given up more than one hit in five consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, BROOKS KLINGEMANN made the most of his time in the batter's box despite the final result and went 2-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. Another player making a difference was KYLE HULSE, who went 2-for-4 with one stolen base, one run, and one double.

Apex's loss dropped their record down to 7-12. As for Broughton, their win was their sixth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 15-5.

Apex wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next matchup, an 11-5 defeat against Willow Spring on the 27th. As for Broughton, they have also already played their next contest, a 13-11 victory against Athens Drive on the 24th.
