Basketball Game Preview: Florence Falcons vs. Lawrence County Red Devils

The Florence Falcons will square off against the Lawrence County Red Devils at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.

Last Saturday, Florence came up short against Deshler and fell 54-47. The defeat continues a trend for the Falcons in their matchups with the Tigers: they've now lost nine in a row.

Meanwhile, Lawrence County was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their 17th straight loss. They were outmatched by Decatur Heritage Christian Academy and fell 76-29. While losing is never fun, the Red Devils can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Alabama basketball rankings (they are ranked 338th, while the Eagles are ranked 42nd).

Florence's defeat ended a five-game streak of away wins and brought them to 11-11. As for Lawrence County, their loss dropped their record down to 1-18.

Everything came up roses for Florence against Lawrence County in their previous matchup back in November of 2024, as the team secured a 70-25 victory. Will Florence repeat their success, or does Lawrence County have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
