Baseball Game Preview: Milwaukee Hamilton Wildcats vs. Augustine Prep Lions

Milwaukee Hamilton and Augustine Prep are an even 4-4 against one another since May of 2022, but likely not for long. The Wildcats will square off against the Lions at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. Milwaukee Hamilton will be strutting in after a victory while Augustine Prep will be coming in after a defeat.

While Milwaukee Hamilton's win against Pulaski wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The Wildcats skirted past the Rams 9-8. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Wildcats.

Ignacio Talamantes made a splash while hitting and pitching. He struck out eight batters over three innings while giving up just two earned runs off one hit. Those eight strikeouts gave him a new career-high. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with one stolen base and one RBI. Talamantes is crushing it when it comes to stolen bases: he's snagged at least one every time he's taken the field this season.

In other batting news, Nyjal Ewing was excellent, going 1-for-2 with three stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI. He is becoming a predictor of Milwaukee Hamilton's success: when he posts at least two stolen bases the team is 2-1 (and 1-2 when he doesn't). Brayden Sadler also deserves some recognition as he got his first hit of the season.

Meanwhile, after soaring to 17 runs the game before, Augustine Prep was a bit more limited in their matchup on Tuesday. They lost 11-1 to Sheboygan Falls.

Augustine Prep's loss dropped their record down to 1-3. As for Milwaukee Hamilton, the victory got them back to even at 3-3.

Milwaukee Hamilton suffered a grim 17-3 defeat to Augustine Prep when the teams last played last Tuesday. Can the Wildcats avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
