Volleyball Recap: McKinney Boyd Comes Up Short

McKinney Boyd was the 3-0 winner over McKinney when they last played one another back in October of 2024, but their luck changed this time around. The Broncos fell 3-1 to the Lions on Friday. Broncos fans who chose to attend the game sure picked the wrong one: it was the first time the team has lost against the Lions since Friday.

While McKinney Boyd had to settle for second, they sure made a game of it, scoring at least 19 points in every set they played. The match finished with set scores of 25-19, 25-20, 14-25, 25-19.

McKinney Boyd has been struggling recently as they've lost six of their last eight contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 9-12 record this season. As for McKinney, their victory ended a five-game drought on the road and puts them at 12-15.

McKinney Boyd and McKinney could both be facing uphill battles in their next games considering their disadvantage in the MaxPreps Texas Rankings. The Broncos (ranked 115th) will meet Allen (ranked fourth) at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Meanwhile, McKinney will take on Plano East at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday with a big rank disadvantage (127 vs. 28).
