Baseball Recap: Lejeune Comes Up Short

Friday just wasn't the day for Lejeune's offense. They took a 4-0 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Jones Trojans on Friday. Having soared to a lofty 13 runs in the game before, the Devil Pups' shutout was a dramatic turnaround.

Lejeune saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Evan Velez, who went 1-for-2 with one stolen base.

Lejeune's loss was their ninth straight at home dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 1-8. As for Jones, their win was their first in the conference, bumping their conference record up to 1-3 and their overall record up to 6-7.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Lejeune will face off against Southside at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Devil Pups are facing the Seahawks at the right time seeing as the Seahawks are stuck on a seven-game losing streak. As for Jones, they will square off against Northside - Pinetown at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
