Basketball Recap: Dakota Takes a Loss

Dakota lost against Oregon back in January of 2023 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Monday. The Dakota Indians fell 45-34 to the Oregon Hawks. The Indians have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

When it comes to explaining why Dakota lost, don't look at Finley Banks. Despite the final result, she almost dropped a double-double on 12 points and nine boards. What's more, Banks also racked up seven steals, the most she's had since back in January of 2024. Another player making a difference was Makenna Stuckey, who dropped a double-double on 11 points and ten rebounds.

Even though they lost, Dakota smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 18 offensive rebounds. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Oregon only pulled down nine offensive boards.

Aniyah Sarver was her usual excellent self, going 7 for 11 en route to 16 points and eight boards for Oregon. Sarver continues to improve, besting her previous point total in each of the last three games she's played. Shaylee Davis was another key player, putting up six points and eight rebounds.

Dakota's defeat dropped their record down to 10-8. As for Oregon, the win got them back to even at 9-9.

Dakota has already played their next match (against Durand), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing. Oregon has already played their next game, a 54-28 loss against Dixon on the 16th.
