Football Recap: Shafter Comes Up Short + How To Watch

After some red-hot attacks on offense in their last four games, Shafter finally came back down to earth on Friday. They were outmatched by the St. Joseph Knights and fell 38-7. The contest marked the Generals' lowest-scoring matchup so far this season.

When it comes to explaining why Shafter lost, don't look at Mariyon Sloan. Despite the final result, he rushed for 91 yards and one TD. Sloan showed off some serious burst, turning on the afterburners on one carry for 50 yards.

Having lost for the first time this season, Shafter fell to 4-1. As for St. Joseph, the victory was the fifth in a row for them, bringing their record up to 5-1.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Shafter will square off against Taft at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. The Generals will be up against the Wildcats' rather soft defense (which has allowed 46.8 points per contest), so fans could be in store for a big offensive performance. As for St. Joseph, they will take on Mission College Prep at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The matchup will give the Knights their first taste of in-conference action this season.
