Volleyball Recap: Elkton/Lake Benton Takes a Loss

It's hard to turn regular season success into postseason wins, a fact Elkton/Lake Benton can now relate to. They fell just short of the Great Plains Lutheran Panthers by a score of 3-2 on Tuesday. The Elks were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Panthers earlier this season, when they won 3-1.

While Elkton/Lake Benton ultimately came up short, they really made Great Plains Lutheran work, particularly in the fourth set. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-14, 19-25, 19-25, 29-27, 15-9.

Leading Great Plains Lutheran to victory were Emily Moritz and Nylah Vannelli. Moritz had 30 assists and 19 digs, while Vannelli had 28 digs. That's the most assists Moritz has posted since back in October.

Elkton/Lake Benton has been struggling recently as they've lost seven of their last eight matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 8-20 record this season. As for Great Plains Lutheran, the win (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 15-14.

Elkton/Lake Benton does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Great Plains Lutheran, they wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next matchup, a 3-0 defeat against Clark/Willow Lake on the 6th.
