Recap: Colleton County Cougars vs. May River Sharks
The Colleton County Cougars had already won three in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 23 points), and they went ahead and made it four on Tuesday. They walked away with a 61-52 victory over May River. This was payback for Colleton County, who suffered a 64-62 defeat the last time these two teams met.
Mykeem Gant was his usual excellent self, scoring 23 points along with eight rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Brian Hamilton, who scored seven points.
Joshua Hunter and Gage Duncan certainly did their best on Tuesday to try and avoid the loss. Hunter dropped a double-double on 14 points and 12 rebounds, while Duncan scored 19 points along with six assists. That's the first time this season that Hunter pulled down eight or more rebounds. Another player making a difference was Tanner Macy, who scored 12 points along with two steals.
Colleton County has been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six games, which provided a nice bump to their 11-6 record this season. As for May River, their defeat dropped their record down to 7-4.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Colleton County will take on Bluffton at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Bluffton is hoping to put an end to a three-game streak of away losses. As for May River, they will be playing at home against Hilton Head Island at 7:30 p.m. on Friday.
