Basketball Recap: Lee Holopirek's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Lacrosse over Ellinwood

LaCrosse lost against Ellinwood back in December of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Thursday. The LaCrosse Leopards took a hard 60-42 fall against the Ellinwood Eagles. The Leopards have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

LaCrosse's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Lee Holopirek, who posted six points and three steals. Reece Morgan also deserves some recognition as he grabbed his first steals of the season.

Landon Simpson continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines for Ellinwood, going 12 for 20 en route to 26 points. Drake Hosman was another key player, dropping a double-double on 11 points and 12 rebounds.

LaCrosse's defeat dropped their record down to 6-4. As for Ellinwood, they now have a winning record of 6-5.

LaCrosse has already played their next match, a 57-48 win against Otis-Bison on the 25th. As for Ellinwood, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 57-54 victory against Minneapolis on the 25th.
