Game recap: McAlester falls to Shawnee in back-and-forth struggle

Shawnee (Okla.) took the final lead of the game on Saturday as Theo Berry ran for a touchdown with with under a minute left in the third quarter, bringing the team to victory over McAlester (Okla.) 34-28.

After taking the lead on a touchdown, the Buffaloes went into halftime with a 21-14 lead. The Wolves scored the winning points with a touchdown run by Berry that came in the third quarter.

Shawnee was ahead by as much as 13 before McAlester pulled closer.

MHS's Caden Pratt played well. The junior wide receiver threw one touchdown and ran for one touchdown. His performance brought his touchdown total to three on the year.

John Jacobs stood out for SHS in the win. The sophomore quarterback ran for two touchdowns.



The win was a nice bounce back for the Wolves, which lost to Memorial last week, 77-37. The loss comes after McAlester defeated Noble 70-42 last week.

Shawnee (2-3) will play a 5A District 3 game against Skiatook next week, while McAlester (1-4) will take on Hale also in a 5A District 3 game.
