Volleyball Recap: Garfield Heights Takes a Loss

If Garfield Heights was riding high fresh off their 3-0 takedown of Maple Heights on Wednesday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Bulldogs came up short against the Cleveland Heights Tigers on Thursday, falling 3-0. The Bulldogs were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Tigers apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in October of 2024.

Garfield Heights was held off the scoreboard, but that almost wasn't the case: they kept the third set very close. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-18, 25-12, 25-23.

Shamira Thigpen paced Garfield Heights' offense, picking up six kills. Thigpen got some help from Aniah Taylor and her seven assists. Finally, Thigpen was also a dominant defender, finishing with a team-high three blocks.

Garfield Heights now has a losing record of 1-2. As for Cleveland Heights, the win (which was their fourth in a row) raised their record to 5-2.

Coming up, Garfield Heights will head out to take on Warrensville Heights at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday. As for Cleveland Heights, they will welcome Euclid at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday.
