Basketball Recap: Alburnett Snags 12th Victory in Last 15 Games

Alburnett won the last time they faced Edgewood-Colesburg and things went their way on Tuesday too. The Alburnett Pirates came out on top against the Edgewood-Colesburg Vikings by a score of 51-39. Given the Pirates' advantage in MaxPreps' Iowa basketball rankings (they are ranked 92nd, while the Vikings are ranked 291st), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Alburnett is on a roll lately: they've won 12 of their last 15 contests, which provided a nice bump to their 17-5 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 67.2 points over those games. As for Edgewood-Colesburg, they dropped their record down to 8-14 with the loss, which was their sixth straight at home.

Alburnett does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Edgewood-Colesburg, they will head out to face off against Maquoketa Valley on Monday. Maquoketa Valley will roll in looking for their fourth straight win, something Edgewood-Colesburg surely won't give up without a fight.
