Baseball Recap: Rolling Hills Prep Triumphs

After losing to University the last time they met, Rolling Hills Prep decided to demonstrate that turnabout is fair play. The Huskies had just enough and edged out the Wildcats 6-5 on Saturday.

Max Sarner was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he struck out six batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits (and only one walk). He has been consistent: he hasn't given up more than one walk in eight consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with three runs. He has become a key player for Rolling Hills Prep: the team is 7-1 when he posts at least two runs, but 5-6-1 otherwise.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Samuel Lopez, who went 1-for-3 with two runs, two RBI, and one double.

Rolling Hills Prep's record is now 12-7-1. As for University, their defeat dropped their record down to 10-14.

Looking ahead, Rolling Hills Prep will be playing in front of their home fans against Crossroads at 3:15 p.m. on Monday. The Roadrunners will roll in looking for their fifth straight victory, something the Huskies surely won't give up without a fight. As for University, they will head out to challenge Venice at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The Gondoliers' pitching crew has only allowed 2.2 runs per game this season, so the Wildcats' hitters will have their work cut out for them.
